Quitting NISSI over ethical disagreements may not seem like a big deal for Frumpel — but turns out, it is.
On June 8, 2025, I sent a letter to Watson, the leader of NISSI, explaining my decision to leave the team.
Having received no response within 24 hours, I’m publishing it here — to avoid ambiguity, misunderstandings, and future claims that “no one ever said anything.”
So, here it is — the letter that apparently went unheard:
Hi, Watson!
Yesterday’s SuperNISSI went great!
You and those who helped you did an excellent job.
All the more regrettable, then, that I now have to write this message.
In order to preserve my mental health and reputation, I am forced to ask you to accept my resignation. I am confident that NISSI will barely notice the absence of a regular puller and will continue to thrive.
Personally, as a puller, I’m almost indifferent to whether I’m on the team or not. But for the healer, being on the team is clearly much more practical when it comes to monitoring participants’ health - especially given the prioritization system introduced by the SSI rules and later adopted by NISSI. For at least the past year, this hasn’t been a matter of debate.
During the ZoEuI experiment, which involved removing the healer and puller from the team, it became apparent that the obvious inconveniences of such a decision likely outweigh its intended benefits.
This led to a well-reasoned request not to repeat such a scenario in the future.
After that, on 05.06.2025, Hono, acting as host, writes to me:
Honö Âmaer Feocennodé: I won’t add you to kill team today, since healer won’t be in team either.
This powerful logic clearly indicates that the mental maturity level of the person I’m speaking with is not “adult.” That is, in response to a reasoned request, we do the exact opposite.
Without basic mutual respect, I don’t think any kind of teamwork is possible—at least not the kind I would want to be part of.
I’m not a professional psychoanalyst to diagnose people, but by remaining in a group with individuals who operate with such a modus operandi, I’m putting both my psyche and my reputation at risk. (Spend enough time around petty tyrants, and people stop seeing the difference.)
So this is, in very simplified terms, the reasoning behind my decision.
Today, June 8, 2025, I will still come to help Gozzy - he has, after all, managed to end up without a healer.
